Our annual concert will be held on Saturday the 10th of December, 2:00pm, at Her Majesty’s Theatre Ballarat.
This year’s concert rehearsal will take place on Friday the 9th of December at Her Majesty’s Theatre in Ballarat. The first half will commence at 9:00am, with the second half following at 12:00pm. The theatre is not accessible through the front door on rehearsal day – all dancers must enter the stage door at the rear of the theatre.
There will be a brief backstage theatre tour for all new parents interested at 9:00am.
Students are to be signed in and out at the back door of the theatre, with no parents permitted to enter, excluding parents of pre-schoolers and those completing the tour.
The running order for the concert has been posted on the noticeboard in the foyer.
Please take note of the following important points:
- No food or drink can be consumed in the theatre; students are to use the green room when eating and drinking.
- Due to Her Majesty’s regulations as well as copyright and privacy policies, no photos or videos are to be taken in the theatre
This year, rather than have a bus available for students to and from rehearsal day, we have decided to catch the train.
We will be catching the 8:27am train to Ballarat, and arriving back at Bacchus Marsh Station at 3:54pm.
Teachers and helpers will be present on both trips to supervise students. Students will require a Myki card for the trip – these can be purchased at the station if needed.
There is a list on the noticeboard for the names of all students that would like to catch the train to rehearsal; please add your child’s name to register them if you would like them to take the train with us.
Please take note of the following important points for the concert:
- Electric hair appliances are not to be used in the dressing rooms
- No photos or videos are to be taken in the theatre
Tickets are currently on sale and are available via the Her Majesty’s website. Simply click on the ‘What’s On’ tab to find our concert. Ticket prices are:
- Adults – $38.00
- Concession (Students & Pension Card Holders) – $30.00
- Children (16yrs and under) – $25.00
Please note – dancers are required to have a ticket and should only be backstage when they are preparing for a dance item.
While it is important that dancers are backstage with adequate time before their performances, we ask that students are not left back stage when they are not preparing to perform.
Students need to be backstage 4 dances before their scheduled performance.
To limit the traffic backstage, we ask that only one family member accompanies dancers when getting ready. Each family will be given one backstage pass to allow this parent or guardian to accompany children to their change room and assist them to get ready.
Men in change rooms
This year we are requesting that no non-dancing males enter the backstage area or change rooms. While we understand that this may be inconvenient, we have students ranging from 2-23 years of age, some of which have expressed that they are uncomfortable changing with males present.
This is a sensitive issue and has been a great topic of debate recently in the media. We are in no way attempting to be derogatory or discriminatory and are happy to allocate separate dressing rooms for students who need to be assisted by their father or a male relative. Please contact us if you require these arrangements to be made.
For younger students we require 2 parents per class to bring the group up to the green room from the change rooms. These parents are able to watch the dance from side stage. They will then need to return the group to the change rooms and waiting for their parents to collect them before returning to the audience. Please contact us if you would like to volunteer to assist in this role.
This year’s concert will be filmed, with DVD’s available for purchase. To pre-order a DVD, please place $35.00 in an envelope clearly labelled with your child’s name.
Photos from photo day will be available for purchase at the studio on Tuesday 29th of November, between 4:00-6:00pm.
Hair and Makeup
Makeup for this year’s concert is to include:
- Pink blush
- Brown eye shadow
- Black eyeliner
- Pink lipstick
Hairstyles are dependent on the costume, so please touch base with class teachers if you are unsure about how they would like hair to be styled.
