Term 1 Newsletter, 2017

Hi everyone,

What a fantastic start to 2017! Welcome to all of our new families and welcome back to the many of you that have danced with us in the past. It is exciting to see so many new faces!

All invoices have been emailed or handed out in classes and are now due to be paid – if you have not received an invoice or think that there may be an errors, please contact us ASAP.

Good luck to Lilli Stanley and Shelby Lowe, who will be competing in multiple divisions of the Melton and Bacchus Marsh Dance Festival in April.

A very special good luck to Grace Graham, who will also be competing at Melton – her very first dance competition entry!

Chookas girls, we are sure that you will represent BMDS exceptionally well and do us very proud.

Fantastic February – Student Achievements

We have had many students working diligently on their technique and flexibility already this year. We would like to recognise the following students for working exceptionally hard to master some new moves in the month of February:

  • Halle McKimmie
  • Amaya Cousins
  • Lucy Thompson
  • Ebony Dale
  • Madeleine Connell
  • Melissa Cassar
  • Nakita Spencer
  • Maia Saunders

We encourage all of our students to keep working hard on their routines, flexibility and technique!

Parents in classes

Just a reminder: we ask that all parents to please wait in the foyer, rather than coming in and watching classes (with the exception of pre-school classes). We do allow the parents of new students to watch for the first couple of lessons, however after students have settled into classes it makes it much easier for them to concentrate without the distraction of an audience.

We are shocked and saddened to hear of the tragic passing of Abby Rogers. Abby danced with us as a young girl and the beautiful Rogers family were loved members of the BMDS community for a great many years.

To those of our dance family that have maintained close friendships with the Rogers family, we extend our deepest sympathies to you.

We send all of our love and condolences to Neville, Wendy, Jack, Darcy, Maddy, Beth and Billy Rogers – Abby will be in our hearts and our thoughts, always.

Mid-Year Cabaret

This year’s cabaret will be taking place on Friday the 23th of June, at 6.00pm.

Participation in the cabaret is completely optional – we only ask that you notify class teachers as soon as possible if your child will not be involved.

The cabaret is a fantastic opportunity for family and friends to come along and see your child dance – it’s a fun night out!

Tickets will go on sale on Monday the 22nd of May and will cost $60.00 for adults and $40.00 for children. These prices include a 3 course meal as well as beer, wine and soft drink.

As per previous years, families will be unable to purchase tickets until Term 1 & 2 fees have been paid.

Stay tuned for notices with more information regarding the process of ticket purchase; these details will be coming out next term.

We are currently waiting on a uniform order delivery from Kixs Dancewear – if you would like to purchase new uniform items they should be arriving in the next couple of weeks J

Queensland Trip

In the September school holidays this year a group of BMDS students and families are travelling to the Gold Coast to perform at DreamWorld, Pacific Fair and the Paradise Resort. If you are new to the studio and would like additional information about this trip please let us know ASAP.

Enjoy the rest of Term 1!

Warm Regards,

Hayley Inglis
